Network-augmented Gene Set Enrichment Analysis

Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) is one of the most popular pathway based analysis tools. GSEA allows researchers to identify biological pathway information from high-throughput transcriptome data. However, identification of appropriate pathways solely from transcriptome profiles can be a challenge as gene-level data is insufficient in interpreting pathways. To address the problem, we developed an improved approach of GSEA called Network-augmented Gene Set Enrichment Analysis, NGSEA. By combining biological networks with GSEA, it is possible to identify appropriate pathways for given phenotypes.
